Meet Ethan
Ethan's journey with Type 1 diabetes began at 15 months old. Years later, he faced an additional diagnosis: celiac disease. Then, on his 7th birthday, a trip to the ER revealed dangerously low platelet levels, leading to an immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) diagnosis. It wasn't until he was 8 years old and experiencing a new symptom that a pediatric rheumatologist at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center connected the dots, diagnosing him with lupus. With proper medication, Ethan's health transformed dramatically and today, he is running, jumping, and working hard to earn new belts in Taekwondo.
