Meet Josiah and Koa

Josiah: Born prematurely, CMV Cytomegalovirus was passed from mother to child, causing Josiah to face early challenges, including mild cerebral palsy, hearing loss, and developmental delays. But he thrived with support from Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. A specialized hearing aid and a microphone system for school helped him overcome communication barriers. Today, Josiah is a playful and determined 10-year-old, embracing his love for drawing, bike riding, and being a caring big brother to his younger brother, Koa. Koa: Born prematurely at 26 weeks, Koa faced a challenging start, spending 179 days in the neonatal intensive care unit battling complications. A floppy airway required intubation and surgeries, including a tracheostomy. His family's constant presence and the support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals ensured he received the specialized care he needed. Today, Koa, though still requiring continuous care, is a thriving 3-year-old, exploring soft foods and walking independently, a testament to his resilience and the power of community support.
