Aidan's once-energetic life was disrupted when fatigue and difficulty with everyday activities signaled something was wrong. Diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, he faced the daunting prospect of needing a new kidney. Thankfully, his mother was a perfect match. Throughout the transplant journey, Aidan was supported by Lurie Children's PeerWISE program, funded in part by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which connects current patients with those who've been through similar experiences providing connection, comfort, and easing Aidan's anxieties. Today, Aidan enjoys good health and a deep appreciation for his mother's life-saving gift.
