Published on October 17, 2016

From August 26 to September 30, Love’s Travel Stops store employees came together for the 18th annual companywide campaign to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Love’s customers and employees at more than 390 stores in 40 states raised $2.53 million–smashing the campaign goal of $2.3 million.

plymouth-loves“We’re so thankful for our employees who set the bar higher every year, and for our customers who repeatedly support us,” said Jenny Love Meyer, vice president of communications for Love’s. “Every year, our employees continue to outdo themselves and our loyal customers show more goodwill to help children in their communities. The level of passion everyone demonstrates for this cause is inspiring.”

During the five-week campaign, Love’s team members sold CMN Hospitals’ Miracle Balloons for donations and organized numerous events like 5K runs, rummage sales, cookouts, wrestling tournaments, pet contests, skateboard tournaments and more.

balloonsLove’s showed additional support for CMN Hospitals this year by donating two days’ worth of coffee sales to the nonprofit in honor of National Coffee Day. On September 29-30, $1 of every 24 oz. coffee or cappuccino sold at all Love’s locations went to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in that community.

Of the 170 CMN Hospital members throughout North America, 99 benefit from Love’s annual campaign.

Thank you for all the love Love’s!

Our 2016-17 Ky. Champion Has Raised more than $100K for His Children’s Hospital

ky-aiden-johnsonDiagnosed with cancer of the blood and bone marrow when he was 2 years old, Aiden has been through a lot. He underwent three long years of treatment, having his last chemotherapy treatment on his sixth birthday. After being off treatment for two years, the unthinkable happened when Aiden and his family learned that his cancer had returned.

“Fighting cancer stinks. Fighting cancer twice stinks even more! I was very scared but never wanted to give up the fight,” said Aiden. He has undergone multiple procedures and treatments including central line placements, chemotherapy, lumbar punctures and countless blood and platelet transfusions.

Aiden is now in remission. During his hospital stays, Aiden used Legos as a distraction from treatment. Since it helped comfort him, he and his family have made it their mission to provide Legos to other kids in the hospital and have collected thousands, while also raising more than $100,000 for their hospital.

How donations helped Aiden at Kosair Children’s Hospital:

The child life program, funded by CMN Hospitals donations, provides patients like Aiden with Beads of Courage, a visual journal of the treatments they’ve endured. Currently, Aiden’s beads measure over 90 feet long.

Thousands of REMAX Agents Gather To Celebrate $9 Million Raised

Published on March 8, 2016

Nearly 6,000 REMAX agents gathered in Las Vegas last week for the annual R4 convention. Among them, many agents who participate in the Miracle Home and Miracle Property programs and who contributed to the $9 million raised for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2015.

Representing the millions of CMN Hospitals patients REMAX supports each year was 10-year-old Camryn. Born six weeks premature, with a congenital heart defect and multiple orthopedic issues, she endured a dozen surgeries and was told she may never walk, talk or see. Today, Camryn is a walking, talking and country music-singing miracle.

Camryn was first introduced to R4 attendees at the opening general session hosted by Jay Leno. She blew kisses to the crowd during an interview with REMAX senior vice president, business alliances, Mike Reagan as she shared her inspiring story and thanked agents for support of CMN Hospitals.

Throughout the week, agents had multiple opportunities to interact with Camryn, make donations and learn more about supporting CMN Hospitals. Golfers purchased mulligans with donations at the Tee it Up for Kids Golf Tournament. Top REMAX donors were honored at a special breakfast with REMAX co-founder Gail Linger. Agents received training on a new Miracle System to streamline agent donations and honor cards through the Miracle Home and Miracle Property programs. Dillard’s featured Camryn and her mom in a spring fashion show and donated to CMN Hospitals a percentage of clothing sales. A live auction including celebrity meet and greets, vacation getaways and once-in-a-lifetime experiences also took place, raising $150,000 toward the REMAX 2016 fundraising goal.

This past weekend, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was the featured charity of Daytime Gives Back. As such, we were featuerd during the 38th Annual Daytime Emmys awards show on CBS. It was a great 3-minute segment, featuring a lot of Daytime talent visiting several of our children’s hospitals.

Behind the scenes we also manned a "giving suite" for the celebrities, where they could visit us to film a short PSA (coming soon!). We were visited by incredible talent, from Meredith Viera to Alex Trebek.

Our favorite visit was from Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin, who is a very famous hearing-impaired actress. She stopped by with famed celebrity hair stylist Ken Paves, and the two of them recorded a PSA together, which he spoke and she signed. It was a beautiful moment.

Occasionally we are given a glimpse into the life of these people who seem so glamorous, and find out that they are so real. We were touched by how anxious Marlee was to give back and help kids, and thrilled to discover that she’s as funny and as genuine as you hope her to be.

We can’t wait to share all the PSAs with you! By the way, did you catch our segment on the Daytime Emmys? What’d you think?

Rite Aid’s $50 Million Miracles

Guest Blogger: John Standley, president and CEO of Rite Aid

 With us, it’s personal.

Those four words are more than a slogan. They are words Rite Aid associates live by every day, both in and outside of our store walls.

One of the best examples of our personal commitment to our customers and communities is our relationship with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For more than 17 years, Rite Aid has been a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Rite Aid has raised millions of dollars and just a few hours ago, we announced that we surpassed $50 million in total funds raised for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the communities we serve since we started our annual campaigns in 1994.

The work and spirit of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals resonate personally with many Rite Aid associates. They know someone that has been helped by the organization and that’s why they are committed to raising as many dollars as they can, helping Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide the best possible care for millions of sick and injured kids each year.

I’ve seen firsthand the miracles Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals perform and how much of a difference each dollar raised makes. And that’s why I buy Miracle Balloons and gladly roll up my sleeves each summer to wash cars during our Executive Car Wash at the corporate office – to help make miracles happen for those who need them the most.

Our annual campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is just one of many ways Rite Aid associates demonstrate our core value of being a caring neighbor. I’m so proud of the role Rite Aid associates play in helping to save and improve the lives of children in the communities we serve. Through their unwavering commitment to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, they have truly shown that “With Us, It’s Personal.”
