Meet Our Champions

Since she was 2, Aurelia has bravely endured complex medical challenges resulting from aggressive cancer, acute myeloid leukemia, and heart failure. She has spent countless hours with caregivers at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children. With them, Aurelia endured intensive chemotherapy and blood and platelet transfusions to fight the cancer. She re-learned to breathe on her own. With caregivers, Aurelia and her family learned the cancer had caused her complete blindness. Years later, Kapi'olani caregivers treated Aurelia for heart failure, seizures and her struggles to gain weight. Their expertise and support, combined with Aurelia's resilience, have resulted in an intelligent pre-teen who loves reading and gymnastics.
