Meet Barbie
Barbie second birthday took an unexpected turn with a high fever and a devastating diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After initial treatment in Venezuela, a setback led her family to seek further care at Nicklaus Children's Hospital's Helen & Jacob Shaham Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute. Thanks to the advanced cancer treatment she received, Barbie's cancer went into remission. Today, she's a vibrant young girl, dancing and celebrating life, a testament to the power of specialized care at South Florida's top children's hospital.
