Meet Leo
Leo's early months were filled with joy, but a sudden change in his eating habits raised concerns. Specialists at Gillette Children's acted quickly on his parents' worries. His condition was serious; he was in respiratory failure. Tests revealed Leo has Pompe disease, a rare genetic condition that causes weakened muscles, trouble breathing, difficulty eating, and respiratory infections. Thanks to intensive care at Gillette Children's, Leo is reaching milestones that at one time seemed impossible. He now sits up on his own, talks (a lot!), does math, reads, and makes people laugh with his humor, proving with the right care and support, anything is possible.
