Meet Ryder
A Halloween night turned into a nightmare when 11-year-old Ryder was struck by a car while trick-or-treating. Ryder was thrown several feet through the air, causing a severe brain injury, a broken femur, and fractures in his pelvis, tailbone, scapula and skull. At Hurley Children's Hospital, he endured a tough road of healing and recovery, which included relearning basic functions. Thanks to a dedicated care team and the ease and comfort of parent sleep rooms, funded by donations to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Ryder, alongside his family, found strength during this challenging time. Today, Ryder is back to his active self, enjoying Legos, soccer, and playing the trombone.
