This past weekend, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was the featured charity of Daytime Gives Back. As such, we were featuerd during the 38th Annual Daytime Emmys awards show on CBS. It was a great 3-minute segment, featuring a lot of Daytime talent visiting several of our children’s hospitals.
Behind the scenes we also manned a "giving suite" for the celebrities, where they could visit us to film a short PSA (coming soon!). We were visited by incredible talent, from Meredith Viera to Alex Trebek.
Our favorite visit was from Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin, who is a very famous hearing-impaired actress. She stopped by with famed celebrity hair stylist Ken Paves, and the two of them recorded a PSA together, which he spoke and she signed. It was a beautiful moment.
Occasionally we are given a glimpse into the life of these people who seem so glamorous, and find out that they are so real. We were touched by how anxious Marlee was to give back and help kids, and thrilled to discover that she’s as funny and as genuine as you hope her to be.
