Strength in Numbers: REMAX Associates Unite for a Cause

Just over a year ago, a group of REMAX Associates gathered in Orange Beach, Alabama, embodying the phrase, “There is strength in numbers.” While their initial goal was to network and learn, this beach retreat transformed into a powerful movement, generating significant support for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the national philanthropic partner of REMAX in the U.S. and Canada.

Since 1991, REMAX affiliates have raised over $209 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. 100% of donations, whether through per-transaction donations or fundraising events, directly benefits local children’s hospitals. Year after year, thousands of REMAX Associates commit to giving back, creating deep connections with their local member hospitals.

Renae Stringer of REMAX of Orange Beach spearheaded the event. “Connecting with agents in the REMAX network has changed my life—both personally and professionally,” she shared. “I wanted to bring 50 agents to my hometown to foster deeper connections beyond the typical annual events. With 2023 marking REMAX’s 50th anniversary, it felt like the perfect moment.”

Renae’s vision extended beyond networking; she aimed to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. To achieve this, she organized a silent auction during the retreat. “I was passionate about creating an incredible experience for everyone,” Renae said. “I realized this retreat needed to be about more than just us; we had an opportunity to give back.”

She curated a variety of auction items, including REMAX branded merchandise, jewelry, and unique experiences. As attendees mingled and bid, a wave of generosity swept through the room. “It started with someone offering a vacation rental, and soon everyone was joining in, either bidding or donating something special,” recalled Shelby Stricklin of REMAX Alliance in Huntsville, AL.

Tiffany MacPherson of REMAX One in Houston, TX, echoed that sentiment: “Having been with REMAX for more than 20 years, supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has been a part of my life and business for a long time. Two of my team members have children that have needed help from their local children’s hospital.”

Tiffany took on the role of auctioneer, igniting the energy in the room. “It was exciting to see what could come together in the room with one idea leading to another idea, and then we were getting people to outbid each other, and it was just so much fun. We all knew what an incredible cause it was for.”

The evening of the silent auction raised an astounding $25,000 for USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Mobile, AL—far exceeding Renae’s initial hopes. “What happened that night was magical; it is emotional to think about what transpired and the agents that stepped in to make it incredible,” she reflected.

Shelby shared a poignant moment from the auction, where several attendees stood up to share their personal stories related to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “The energy shifted from excitement to tears as we heard their powerful connections to the cause,” she recalled. ““It was just the most incredible thing to be a part of, and to just see so many people take a turn on what they could do to help us reach that goal.”

Mark Kruse of REMAX Alliance in Denver, CO, who helped coordinate the bids, emphasized the importance of community involvement. “We are fortunate that our company prioritizes making a difference in local communities.”

Renae described the event as unlike anything she had ever experienced, highlighting the collaborative spirit that made it all possible. “It wouldn’t have been a success without each person who contributed,” she said.

Jason Panos of REMAX Infinity in Pensacola, FL, added, “It was an amazing experience—not just for the amount raised, but for the vision that the event turned into.”
