Cooper's childhood took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with leukemia at nine years old. The following years were filled with hospital visits, chemotherapy, and the emotional rollercoaster of battling cancer. But amidst the challenges, Cooper found strength and resilience at University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital. The Child Life team and facility dogs provided comfort and distraction, turning a difficult experience into one filled with moments of joy and connection. After facing a second cancer diagnosis and overcoming numerous setbacks, Cooper is finally in remission, ready to embrace a future filled with possibilities.
