Meet Champion, Seeley

Just two and a half weeks after her birth, Seeley developed a persistent fever. At Wilcox Medical Center on Kaua‘i, tests revealed her white blood cell count was dangerously high. She was medevacked to Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, where she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia — becoming the youngest patient in the country to begin a specialized chemotherapy protocol. Seeley remained at Kapi‘olani for three months, receiving expert, round-the-clock care. When doctors determined she needed a bone marrow transplant, her team coordinated a transfer to Seattle Children’s Hospital, where her mother served as a half-match stem cell donor during a clinical trial. After eight months in Seattle, Seeley returned home and continues follow-up care with her oncology team at Kapi‘olani. Today, she is a thriving toddler whose journey reflects both remarkable resilience and the power of expert, compassionate care.
