Meet Timothy
When Timothy’s parents adopted him, he was a very sick 5-month-old with a feeding tube and a rare kidney disorder called congenital nephrotic syndrome, Finnish type. Doctors said he would ultimately need a kidney transplant. Under the expert pediatric nephrology team at Children’s of Alabama, Timothy’s family finally had a plan. He underwent multiple hospital stays, dialysis treatments, and surgery to remove both kidneys before being placed on the transplant list. At six years old, the call came - a kidney was available. The transplant surgery went smoothly, and Timothy quickly began to recover and thrive. Now an energetic, adventurous 11-year-old, he loves Legos, biking, swimming, and playing with friends.
