Meet Fletcher
Five-year-old Fletcher’s life changed in an instant. After months of unexplained illness, a visit to the emergency room revealed abnormal blood counts and immature cells.
He was rushed to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, where further testing confirmed Stage 4 Burkitt’s Lymphoma, an aggressive cancer overtaking 90% of his bone marrow.
Treatment began immediately, but the rapid cell death caused kidney failure, requiring two types of dialysis. Fletcher endured weeks in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), followed by months in the pediatric oncology unit undergoing an intense chemotherapy regimen. His humor and resilience never wavered. After five months of treatment, Fletcher completed his final round of chemotherapy. Now healthy and active in middle school, he cherishes everyday moments with friends and family. His journey is a testament to the expert care he received.
