Meet Poppy
Born at just 33 weeks, Poppy weighed 3 lbs., 5oz and spent her first month in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Her parents learned everything from swaddling to bottle-feeding with guidance from the patient, caring NICU staff. Small wins, like her first bottle or a few ounces gained, marked her steady progress toward going home. Thanks to donations, Providence Alaska Children’s Hospital provided specialized NICU equipment, support, and family-centered care, giving Poppy the strength to grow and thrive. Even after she was discharged, Providence is there whenever she needs it. When Poppy’s family learned their insurance wouldn’t cover the NICU stay, Providence’s financial assistance program lifted that burden entirely. Today, Poppy is home, healthy, and surrounded by love.
