Meet Wilson
What started as a typical day quickly became a nightmare for 13-year-old Wilson.
While riding his dirt bike, he collided with a speeding truck and sustained devastating injuries, including lacerations, two broken femurs, and a shattered elbow. First responders rushed him to Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital by Life Flight®, where doctors immediately worked to stop blood loss and stabilize his legs. Through the skilled hands of a doctor and his surgical team, Wilson underwent complex procedures to repair his femurs and piece together his elbow with plates and screws. The doctor’s honest communication and father-like reassurance helped Wilson stay strong. After weeks in the pediatric intensive care unit and intensive rehabilitation, Wilson began walking again and slowly regained his strength. Today, he is back to golfing and fishing with his brothers. Inspired by his journey, Wilson hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy to help kids like him.
