Amelia’s story

Born at just 27 weeks and 5 days, weighing 1 lb. 3 oz., Amelia was given almost no chance of survival. But the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) transport team arrived just in time, stabilizing her and rushing her to Albany for urgent care. Thanks to donations, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital provided advanced NICU equipment, specialized therapies, and expert staff, allowing Amelia to grow stronger each day. Over 137 days, she battled premature lungs, pulmonary hypertension, and feeding challenges - and proved her fighter spirit time and again. Today, Amelia is five years old, continuing to grow and thrive with the help of oxygen and a G-tube. She is full of resilience and possibility, a true testament to the care she received.
