Meet Christopher
Christopher’s journey began at birth when he sustained an Erb’s Palsy–Brachial Plexus injury during delivery. Days later, with no movement in his arm, his pediatrician confirmed the diagnosis. At three months old, he underwent surgery to transfer nerves from his ribs to repair the damage in his neck. The next year, El Paso Children’s Hospital launched its Brachial Plexus Clinic, giving Christopher access to specialized care, including extensive physical and occupational therapy. Under the care of his doctor, Botox treatments helped relax his muscles and a few years later, a second surgery improved movement in his shoulder and bicep. While he still has limited mobility in his fingers, wrist, and elbow, another surgery is planned to further improve function. Today five-year-old Christopher can play at parks, enjoy bounce houses, and participate in soccer and basketball. His progress is a powerful testament to the specialized, compassionate care he has received to help him thrive
