Meet Levi
Since he was just 3 months old, Levi has been cared for at Arkansas Children’s Northwest.
Levi was diagnosed with alpha thalassemia major, a rare genetic blood disorder in which the body doesn’t produce enough alpha globin chains needed to make hemoglobin.
Without healthy hemoglobin, his red blood cells can’t carry oxygen, making regular treatment essential for survival. Every four weeks, he receives a blood transfusion to keep his body strong and healthy. These visits have become a routine part of his young life, with the hospital team playing an important role in his journey. Recently, Levi’s family learned that his younger sister is a perfect bone marrow donor match. In the future, Levi will undergo a stem cell transplant with the hope of curing his condition. Today, Levi continues to grow and thrive, full of resilience and strength, supported by his family and care team.
