Meet Quincy
Quincy was born five weeks early via emergency C-section after doctors couldn’t find his heartbeat. Against all odds, he was strong and didn’t need specialized care.
But during his first two years, Quincy was often sick with RSV and lung issues.
At a routine checkup, doctors detected a heart murmur and referred him to CHRISTUS Children’s. An echocardiogram revealed rare, complex congenital heart defects: some parts of his heart were missing, others duplicated, and blood wasn’t circulating properly. Within a week, Quincy underwent a seven-hour open-heart surgery. Surgeons also discovered two superior vena cava veins, four extra veins, and a missing heart wall. Recovery was grueling, and months later, Quincy needed a second surgery for a serious complication called Superior Vena Cava (SVC) Stenosis. Now a thriving six-year-old, Quincy embodies resilience and joy. His family credits CHRISTUS Children’s with saving his life and surrounding them with compassion, expertise, and hope.
