Meet Charlotte
When Charlotte was six, her parents brought her to urgent care for what they thought was a urinary tract infection. Initial tests seemed to confirm it, but lab results pointed to something more serious. She was referred to the Nephrology department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where a kidney biopsy revealed C3 glomerulonephritis, a rare disease that affects kidney function. Despite her diagnosis, Charlotte remained cheerful during her hospital stay, enjoying the playroom, gift shop, and even the room service menu. Her nurses and the rest of the care team provided exceptional care, supporting her and her family every step of the way. Charlotte’s labs improved, and no further immediate treatment was needed, though she would be monitored for the rest of her life. Today, Charlotte is healthy, energetic, and full of smiles, spreading joy to everyone she meets.
