Before Ian’s birth, doctors warned his parents of daunting possibilities: he might not see or hear, breathe independently, or even survive. Yet from the moment of his arrival at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Ian defied the odds. After a stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), he came home and began a lifelong journey of specialized care. At Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s, Ian receives ongoing therapies and treatments from dozens of specialists, including neurology, pulmonology, orthopedics, and speech therapy. Each visit, procedure, and milestone is supported by a team that sees Ian not just as a patient, but as a child with unlimited potential. Now a joyful, curious student in an inclusive classroom, Ian cheers at his brother’s baseball games, learns alongside his peers, and inspires everyone with his radiant smile. His journey is proof that with expert care, kids can thrive beyond expectations.
