Meet Dairon
At just 15, Dairon’s life changed instantly when a motorcycle accident left him with a traumatic brain injury. He was rushed to Ascension Via Christi, unresponsive, and immediately admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. A team of neurosurgeons, trauma specialists, and nurses worked urgently to stabilize him while his family waited anxiously for signs of hope. During his 30-day stay, Dairon received not only advanced trauma care but also support from Child Life specialists who helped him and his younger brother cope with fear and uncertainty. They provided comfort, therapeutic play, and encouragement through each small milestone: opening his eyes, sitting up, and slowly regaining strength.
Today, Dairon has made a remarkable full recovery with no lasting deficits. Back to being an avid basketball fan, the gym, and dreaming of fast cars, he now carries a renewed sense of gratitude.
