Elkis entered the world with an unexpected challenge: he was born with a cleft palate. His parents’ joy quickly turned to concern as they faced an unfamiliar diagnosis. Thankfully, a dedicated team of pediatric physicians stepped in immediately, guiding them with compassion and reassurance. During this pivotal time, Elkis’s family was introduced to the Fundación de Niños de Puerto Rico, where caring doctors and staff became trusted partners in his journey. Through a series of surgeries and treatments, Elkis received the care he needed to grow strong and healthy. The Foundation and his medical team supported the family at every turn, ensuring he had access to vital resources and specialized care. Today, ten-year-old Elkis is thriving. He loves swimming, cooking, and creating videos with his uncle. With a smile that lights up every room, he enjoys school, fun with friends, and life alongside his brother.
