Before Ian’s birth, doctors warned his parents of daunting possibilities: he might not see or hear, breathe independently, or even survive. Yet from the moment of his arrival at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Ian defied the odds. After a stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), he came home and began a lifelong journey of specialized care. At Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s, Ian receives ongoing therapies and treatments from dozens of specialists, including neurology, pulmonology, orthopedics, and speech therapy. Each visit, procedure, and milestone is supported by a team that sees Ian not just as a patient, but as a child with unlimited potential. Now a joyful, curious student in an inclusive classroom, Ian cheers at his brother’s baseball games, learns alongside his peers, and inspires everyone with his radiant smile.
