Zoé has always been an artist at heart. At just 6 years old, art became a key outlet for her to heal and cope during cancer treatment at Children’s National Hospital. Whether sculpting clay or creating bright silk hoop paintings, each piece gave her joy and reminded her she was more than her diagnosis. When the pandemic limited her in-person art therapy, Zoé was devastated. Thanks to the telehealth program and Children’s National, she continued sessions from home. “Having the freedom to play and create meant a lot to me and helped me feel better,” Zoé says. For her family, art therapy, and world-class care brought relief. “With cancer, every day was unpredictable,” her mom, Bridgette shares.
“But with art therapy, we knew it was going to be a good day.” Now 12 and cancer-free, Zoé still sketches and sings, studies science, plays tennis, and dreams big.
